Qualifications
Jeff earned his JD from the University of Minnesota Law School and MBA from the Carlson School of Management in 2000. He was admitted to the California Bar in 2001 and the Minnesota Bar in 2005.
He began his legal practice in the San Francisco office of Foley & Lardner, a national law firm offering interdisciplinary counsel. While serving their Commercial Litigation and Business Reorganization departments, he specialized in the field of corporate bankruptcy and worked on matters for Major League Baseball, Ameriprise Financial, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Banta Corporation, Voith Paper, the Industry Standard magazine, and San Jose Medical Group.
He has filed hundreds of bankruptcy-related petitions.
Background
Jeff grew up in West St. Paul, graduating from Sibley High School and the University of Minnesota Duluth. After 5 years in San Francisco, he moved back home to be closer to friends and family. He believes his upbringing in the Butwinick Furniture family, a downtown Saint Paul fixture for over 60 years, allows him a special perpective into the needs, concerns, and strategic goals of small business clients. He is an avid sports fan and has been a proud Vikings season holder for years. He also enjoys Twins baseball.
